PROCEDURE FOR APPROVING NEW PROGRAMME PROPOSALS FROM FHMS 1. Proposal discussed with HoD for initial viability and ‘strategic fit’. NOTES HoD = Head of Division AD(LT) = Associate Dean (L&T) FR = Faculty Registrar FMO = Faculty Marketing Officer FM = Finance Manager FLTC = Faculty Learning & Teaching Committee FEB = Faculty Executive Board ASG = Academic Standards Guidelines (Calendar) * Form downloadable from FHMS FLTC website 2. Proposer meets with AD(LT), FR and FMO forpreliminary scrutiny and discussion of viability. 3. Marketing Research undertaken by FMO, inconsultation with Market Research Team, and sent to Proposer (CCd to AD(LT) and FR).Is there a viable market? NO 11. Validation Board outcome to FEB/ FLTC - programme entered in relevant prospectus YES 4. Outline Proposal Form* (OPF) completed by Proposerand sent to FR. FR distributes to AD(LT), FMO and FM. OPF considered by FLTC and signed off by AD(LT) if approved. Is Outline Proposal approved? YES NO NO 10. Full Proposal submitted to University Validation Board. Is Full Proposal approved? YES 9. Programme may be advertised externally/UCAS as “subject to validation”.Proposer prepares Validation Document (ASG Section B3) and submits to FR for consideration by AD(LT) on behalf of FLTC Is Full Proposal approved? YES YES NO 5. Business Plan produced by Proposer, includingMarketing Annexe and Library/Computing Annexe,with appropriate signatures and input from Finance. YES 7. OPF and Business Plan (including signed annexes)submitted by Proposer to FEB for sign off by Dean.OPF signed by partner (eg other Dean) if collaborative prog. Is Outline Proposal approved? 8. OPF and Business Plan (including annexes) submittedto Academic Registry (Q and S) by FR for consideration by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Development)Are all conditions met? YES NO NO YES
