Mary Reiby Businesswoman, convict and trader. Played a large role in up keeping the Reibey House. Referred to as 'Sydney's first successful businesswoman.' Thomas Rowley Member of the New South Wales Corps, he was then promoted to lieutenant in 1791. He built a home on his Stanmore Farm and it, along with Annandale, became the first houses in this area. Convicts During the late 18th and 19th centuries, large numbers of convicts were transported to the various Australian penal colonies by the British government. Over the 80 years more than 165,000 convicts were transported to Australia. Bushrangers Bushrangers attacked Joshua Josephson on his way home which prompted him to barricade every door and window of the Enmore house at sunset. Thomas Holt Represented his father's business, wool merchant, until he moved to Sydney in 1842. Built The Warren on his 130 acre (52.6 ha) Marrickville estate.
