  2. Pablo Picasso was born On October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. His full name is Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los RemediosCipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Clito Ruiz Picasso. When Pablo was 7 his father gave him artistic training in figure drawing and oil painting. Later on, Pablo studied art in Madrid, Spain. When he was about 19 he studied in Paris, France which was considered the art capital of Europe. Through-out his life Picasso also did ceramic and bronze sculptures, drawings, etchings and poetry. He also did paintings of other famous artist's paintings but in his own style.  Picasso's work is divided into periods -

  3. “The old guitarist” 1903 The Blue Period (1901-1904), featured sad looking paintings using blue and blue-green colors

  4. “ACROBAT AND YOUNG HARLEQUIN” 1905 The Rose Period (1905-1907), was a more happy style with orange and pink colors.

  5. “head of a man” 1908 The African-influenced Period (1908 – 1909)Formal ideas developed during this period lead directly into the Cubist period that follows.

  6. 'Factory, Horta de Ebbo‘ 1909 The Cubist Period (1909 – 1919) Picasso is famous for being the co-founder of Cubism which is a style of painting where objects of the painting subject are broken up and re-painted in an abstract form. This painting represents “Analytical Cubism.”

  7. Synthetic cubism (1912–1919) was a further development, in which cut paper fragments were pasted into compositions, marking the first use of collage in fine art. “L'anisdel mono” 1915

  8. The lovers 1923 Classicism and Surrealism Period (1918-1945) After cubism, Picasso returned to more traditional patterns and this period is known as his Classicist period.

  9. Girl before a mirror 1932 Even Picasso could not avoid being influenced by the Surrealism movement . Much of his work after 1927 is fantastic and visionary in character.

  10. Picasso’s final works were a mixture of styles, his means of expression in constantly changing until the end of his life. Devoting his full energies to his work, Picasso became more daring, his works more colorful and expressive. Picasso died of a heart attack in 1973 in Mougins, France. He was91 years old.
