Background • Born October 25, 1881. • Died April 8, 1973. • Born in Malaga. • He was a painter, sculptor, ceramist and printmaker.
Influences • Picasso showed interest and skills for drawing at an early age. • His first words were (piz, piz). Short for Lapiz. • When he was seven he was taught by his father in figure drawing and oil painting. • His father Don José Ruiz y Blasco was a painter who focused on naturalistic illustrations of birds. Most of his fathers life he was a professor of art.
Blue Period • Blue Period was from 1901–1904. • It was a time when he used blue and blue green colors in his artwork.

Rose Period • Rose period was from 1904-1906. • It was a happier style with orange, pink and red colors. • Normally had circus people and acrobats in these pieces.

Cubism • From all of his work he is most known for Cubism. • There was Analytic and Synthetic. • Analytic was from 1909-1912. • Synthetic was from 1912-1919.
Cubism • Synthetic Cubism was second type of cubism were he used collages and 2-D elements. • Analytic Cubism was the first cubism he used and it was where he broke down images into many angles and views.
