Recent MIPAS L2 Data Retrieved at Oxford Anu Dudhia University of Oxford
Oxford processor MORSE uses same L1B/microwindows as ESA data, but optimal estimation algorithm. • Aim to process entire MIPAS dataset • Current data being processed on 4 dual-CPU desktops in AOPP undergraduate practical lab (as background tasks) • Past data being processed on a 10-CPU cluster • Aim to complete first run around mid-2008 http://www.atm.ox.ac.uk/group/mipas/L2OXF/
Conclusions • No obvious problems with recent MIPAS spectra (up to end of 2007) • Dec 2007 appears to have been unusually cold in the arctic throughout the stratosphere (strong vortex?) • Enhanced conversion of NO2 ClONO2, but ozone concentrations still normal
