What is Campout? • 700 Grad Student Season Tickets Available for the 2001-2002 season • Approximately 1,700 students expected at this year’s campout • Must participate in campout, and successfully complete, to earn a chance to win a ticket through the lottery
YIKES!! So what can we do to win? • Build Campout Teams • RVs, U-Hauls, Tents • RV/Truck Captain’s meeting announced shortly • Get Organized • Food • Beer • Entertainment
OK, I got my team. Now what? • REGISTER!!!!!!!!!!! • September 17 at 8:00am through September 21 at 5:00pm • YOU MUST REGISTER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CAMPOUT!!!!!!! • Register online at www.duke.edu/gpsc • Confirm registration online as well
HERE’S THE IMPORTANT STUFF • Friday, September 28 at 7:30pm till Sunday, September 30 at 7:00am (approximately) • Tier 3 lot at Wannamaker Drive and Duke University Drive • Bring: • $5 cash (exact change) • At least one canned good for charity • Two forms of photo ID (Duke ID and driver’s license or passport) • Blank check (U.S. bank) or $150 money order
What else can you tell me? • Random whistle checks will take place many, many, many times • Must report to your designated check-in table • May miss only one check-in and still be eligible • Be sure to “check the checker” • Lottery chances based on seniority and winning • First-time campers get one chance • If you won last year, you get one chance this year • If you didn’t win last year, you get three chances this year
So, what are my chances? • Approximately 1700 people expected • # people with 5 chances: 25 • # people with 3 chances: 419 • Remaining # people: 1250 • So, it looks pretty good if you have three chances; and your shot at winning if you have one chance is about 20%.
What do I do if I win? • You must turn in your voucher at Cameron before 10:00am Sunday morning • Duke ID, second photo ID and check or money order for $150 • Proxy can pick up your ticket card • Photocopy of the winner’s Duke ID, signed by winner with following statement: “I am a full-time student. I am solely responsible for destroyed, lost or stolen ticket cards.”
What if I can’t make Campout? • Exemption Request • MUST BE RECEIVED!! BY 4PM ON SEPT. 21 • Go to www.duke.edu/gpsc • Print & complete form, mail in or drop off at Bryan Center (allow sufficient mailing time) • FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!!! • SASE • Check for $5 • Statement, etc. • Be sure to also register • Chances of exemption are slim • Must be real emergency/“can’t miss” event • Decisions are final and un-appealable
Anything else? • Community Service will be held on Saturday morning (chance to take a shower!) • Entertainment will be provided Friday and Saturday night • Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available for sale on Saturday (first come, first serve)
