GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS To receive a high school diploma a student must • Complete requirements of the FHSP • Choose at least one endorsement • Opt out-agreement (only after 10th grade year) • Meet testing requirements for graduation
Foundation High School Program • More flexible allowing students to pursue their interests • Foundation program 22 Credits • Five endorsement options-total credits 26 (minimum) • Distinguished Level of Achievement • Performance Acknowledgements
Foundation requirements • English (4 credits)—English I, II, III, Advanced English • Math (3 credits)—Algebra 1, Geometry, Advanced Math • Science (3 credits)—Biology, IPC or Advanced Science • Social Studies (3 credits)—World History or World Geography, US History, Government, Economics • Languages other than English (2 credits)—Spanish • PE (1 credit) • Fine Art (1 credit) • Electives (5 credits) • Speech (demonstrated proficiency)
Endorsements Requirements of an Endorsement are an additional Math, an additional Science, and two electives. These are the endorsements: • S.T.E.M.—Science, Technology, Engineering, Math • Business and Industry • Public Service • Arts and Humanities • Multi-Disciplinary Studies
Distinguished level of Achievement Requires: • Foundation High School Program • Choosing an Endorsement • Algebra 2 and a fourth science • 26 total credits (minimum)
Performance acknowledgements Students may have one or more of the following to receive a performance acknowledgement: • Dual Credit courses—12 hours • Bilingualism and biliteracy • PSAT, ACT, SAT (meet minimum standard set by state) • AP Exams: Score must be a 3 or higher • Earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification or license
EOC Testing Requirements Five End-Of-Course exams will be taken by students. Students will have to pass all five tests as a graduation requirement. The five tested areas are: • English I • English II • Algebra 1 • Biology • United States History Students have numerous opportunities to take the exams in the event they do not pass them on the first test administration.
