How was it developed? • Developed for Beacon Dodsworth by Liverpool University • Updates “SuperProfiles” tool developed in collaboration with Littlewoods • The commercial P2 product is (like Mosaic) at OA level
P2 v Mosaic • Lower SOA equivalent tool is available – useful for deriving rates, ratios and standardising • Mosaic does this by attribution of OA to SOA based on proportion of the population (rough and ready) • P2 goes back and recalculates the attributes of the SOA (not so rough and ready) • This SOA product free to the public sector • www.p2peopleandplaces.co.uk
Assessment • Comparative evaluation of geodemographic products undertaken by NWPHO • Particular value of P2 is its distinction of ‘New Starter’ areas with particular health needs • ‘Multicultural Centres’ also distinguished
