JPMorgan Chase & SU Partnership A 10-year, $30 million commitment to SU to create a financial service information technology infrastructure curriculum and conduct research to benefit students throughout the region. • SU students will gain practical experience working alongside JPMorgan Chase employees during internships. • JPMorgan Chase Technical Center is in Lyman Hall. • Students participate in Immersion Experience • Creation of new curricula to meet the needs of the financial services industry, so our graduates will be ready for those challenges. Programs created under the partnership include: • Minor in Global Enterprise Technologies (undergraduate) • Certificate of Advanced Studies in Global Enterprise Technologies (graduate) • EuroTech – Students visit five countries in two weeks to explore the technology industry in Europe. • Vet Programs –prepare veterans for careers in global companies that rely heavily on technology. • SU faculty conduct research on issues vital to JPMorgan Chase to make significant contributions to solving IT problems financial services companies are facing.

MS in Information Management • Introduced as a degree in 1980, initially as response to government’s need for information professionals. • 42 Credit Hour program • Prepares professionals who can: • Analyze information needs in an organization • Design & evaluate organizational and technology solutions to meet these needs • Plan & manage complex IT projects • Develop ongoing management strategies to stay on top of needs & solutions as they evolve over time • Executive Track designed for those students who demonstrate leadership potential and have greater than six years experience. This is a 30 credit hour program.

Distance Learning Education at the iSchool • Experienced in delivery of coursework online – established distance programs in 1993. • MS programs start with a one-week residency course in July. The remainder of the courses can be complete online or a blended mode. There is no required residency for the MS in IM – Executive track. • Online courses are asynchronous. • Blackboard is utilized as the platform and enhanced by utilization on other collaborative technologies. • We have single programs delivered in two modes – online and on campus. Admission requirements and degrees are the same. • Summer Institute enables students to take additional face to face courses.
Application Information • Master’s Programs • Fall semester for campus students; preferred date of application is Feb. 1st. • Summer semester start for online students; required one week residency in July; preferred date of application is Feb 1st. Admit beyond these dates if space available. • No spring admission. A History of Distance Learning Excellence • Whitman/Syracuse University is home to one of the oldest “distance” learning MBA programs in the country • Program began in 1976 (see timeline)
Distance Learning at Whitman • Whitman offers three distinct programs • “iMBA” – 54 credit hour MBA (typically completed in 3 years) • “iMSA” – 30 credit hour Master of Science in Accounting degree for those with an accounting background (typically completed in about two years) • “iMSScM” – 30 credit hour Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (typically completed in about two years)
The iMBA Program Today • Recommended Sequence is three years, but a student has up to seven to complete the degree • Eighteen total courses including “core” course and electives (see next slide) • Typical course load, flexibility in curriculum design • Same AACSB accredited curriculum as FTMBA just delivered differently

Limited Residencies at Whitman • Three residencies per year in Syracuse for all distance learning programs • How we “kick off” each semester • August or January start dates (summer for returning students only) • Residency spans from Saturday – Wednesday with a few variations • An opportunity for supplemental experiences crucial to the “Whitman experience”

The “iMS” at Whitman • Functionally specific course content delivered in tandem with the iMBA program • Designed for those working in the field of accounting or supply chain management • Unique to each student with flexibility in course selection • Typically completed in two years
Applying to Whitman • New Cohorts begin in either the fall (August) or spring (January) • iMBA program requires a minimum of five years of full-time work experience • iMS program does not require work experience, but may have some pre-qualifying course work requirements
The Application • Application checklist for our programs are as follows: • Online application (which includes essay requirements, an up to date resume, and two letters of recommendation) • Official Transcripts from all institutions attended • GMAT exam NOT required for iMBA applicants, but is required for all iMS applicants • Interview: An interview (by phone, Skype or in person) is required for all iMBA applicants. Interview is discretionary for iMS applicants
