An Important Place in History One of the oldest Inns in Windsor, the original building dates back to the 1500’s. • First named The Mermaid, the original Tudor building was a mere 25 feet wide • Throughout its 500 year history its influential Innkeepers have been responsible for introducing new initiatives such as Mermaid coinage and its own brewery • In the 1700’s, a stagecoach service was operated, leaving from the Castle to Brighton three times a week • Today, the hotel still prides itself on maintaining the character and charm befitting its heritage
