Da mi basia mille, deinde centum, Dein mille altera, dein secunda centum, Deinde usque altera mille, deinde centrum. Dein, cum milia multa fecerimus, Conturbabimus illa, ne sciamus Aut ne quis malus invidere possit, Cum tantum sciat esse basiorum.

  3. Comments about the poem Catullo Liber V • Enjoy Life, especially with your lover • Focus on now, and not the time around it • Days go too quickly

  4. ORAZIO, CARMINA 1,11 Tu ne quaesieris, scire nefas, quem mihi, quem tibifinem di dederint, Leuconoe, nec Babyloniostemptaris numeros. ut melius, quidquid erit, pati.seu pluris hiemes seu tribuit Iuppiter ultimam, quae nunc oppositis debilitat pumicibus mareTyrrhenum: sapias, vina liques, et spatio brevispem longam reseces. dum loquimur, fugerit invidaaetas: carpe diem quam minimum credula postero.

  5. Comments about the poem Orazio Carmina 1,11 • Horace is pessimistic about life • No certainties because we can’t decide destiny • Irony: have a glass of wine, and escape the present

  6. Do you think that life is long enough? • When you are 5, 1 year is 1/5th of life • When you are 20, 1 year is 1/20th of life • When you are young, you spent your time more focused on the present

  7. Aren’t you afraid about the future? • It’s not good to be afraid of the future • Take everything as it comes • You cant stay young forever, but don’t fear becoming old.

  8. Don’t you think you will become old and that once you will die. • The distant future is very far away. • Be conscious that you once will die, but it wont be soon • Carpe Diem: Seize the day

  9. Conclusion • Enjoy your life to the fullest • You must not lose any opportunity in your life.
