Schedule: • 8:15-9:15 Morning Work, AIR (Acceleration, Intervention, & Remediation) • 9:15-10:50 Math • 10:50-11:50Enhancements • 11:50-12:05M.I.R.P. • 12:05-12:35Lunch (staggered times for classes) • 12:35-1:05 Recess • 1:10-2:45 Reading Foundations, Literature, Language, Writing, Small Groups • 2:45-3:40Reading Informational, Language, Writing • 3:40-Pack up, Dismissal
Attendance is a must! • No more than 4 per quarter. • Send a note the day after your child is absent with the reason. • If you know in advance that your family is taking an educational trip, seek prior approval forms from the office.
Lunch Prices: • Breakfast--$1.35 Reduced--$.30 • Lunch--$2.15 Reduced--$.40
Enhancements • This year students will attend a different enhancement class daily. • Enhancements are: Learning Lab, STEM, Art, Technology, PE, Music, Media Center
Reminders to Parents: • Please send your child’s school supplies as soon as possible! • *Check and sign your child’s agenda each night to review behavior and homework. • Check your child’s homework every night. • Check and sign your child’s weekly folder every Tuesday. Please return all work!
Grading Policy • All assignments will be weighted equally. • There will be at least8 grades given for reading, math, and spelling. • There will be at least7 grades given for science and social studies.

4th Grade Curriculum Social Studies: • N.C. Regions, Settlements, and Immigration • History of Cultures and History of NC Indians • State Symbols • Natural Resources • Famous North Carolinians • Civics and Government • Geography • Environmental Literacy • Technology and Transportation History • Economics and Financial Literacy
Homework: • Reading and Math homework will be assigned on most nights (Mon.-Thurs.) • Math HW will usually consist of a workbook page(s) or a worksheet. • Reading HW will usually consist of an EOG style passage with questions for each night. • Reading Log - students document in their agenda 15 minutes nightly • Spelling HW will only be assigned if your child failed his/her spelling test the week before. Also, at teacher’s discretion.

Math Incentives We will have quarterly math focuses first semester that will include a friendly competition and incentives to work towards. • 1st Quarter- Multiplication tables Mastery- Reward: Ice Cream Party • 2nd Quarter- Division tables Mastery- Reward TBA

Reading Incentives Research shows, the best way to improve your reading is to read more. • 1stSemester-Sept, Oct., Nov., Dec. logs completed and signed showing student read everyday for 15 minutes - Reward pizza • 2ndSemester- Jan., Feb., Mar., Apr., May logs completed and signed showing student read everyday for 15 minutes - Reward BES Reader t-shirt
Parties • If you want to celebrate your child’s birthday, please arrange to come during our lunch time! • Please give the teacher a heads-up before that day, if possible!
