Monday 2/1 • Clean Up Time • Projects in process
Clean-Up Time • What is your clean-up rule/process? • Warning: • “__ minutes til clean-up” • Turn on timer; they know it’s 5 minutes • Turn off light, then “5 minutes til clean-up; 5 minutes left to play” • Time is flexible, except for some shared areas are scheduled – and kids want to know what time it is at • Timing: • Before circle • Before lunch • During: • Caribbean song… (not just “clean up” song) • Process: • (1) Clean up what they were playing with • (2) Do their job (job chart)
Clean-Up Time • What is your role? • Give the warning • Sometimes there is someone to do it for us • I clean up – they don’t clean unless they want to (usually just 2 of them; the other 6 are taking things down from the shelf) • Making observations – verbal descriptions: “there are markers on the floor” • Modeling • Enterprise Talk
Clean-Up Time • Examples: • Big buckets & sponges • Kids clean their own food • Small brooms & dustpans • Photos for where things go • Allow plenty of time • Value this time as learning
