THE FIRST TIME I MADE YUMMY PANCAKES TAMIA Fourth Grade BronxCharterSchool for Excellence 11/12/10
Have you ever made pancakes before? Well, in this story, I did. It was when my mom and I were just sitting in the kitchen, talking. Then she asked me, “What do you want for breakfast ?”and I said, “I guess, I want…pancakes.”And while I said that, my mom was getting up to get out the ingredients for the pancakes.
When my mom was done taking out the ingredients to make the pancakes, I muttered, “I wish, I can cook.’’ You’re expecting her to say “yes”, right? Well, you’re right! She actually told me I can cook, but she usually says, “When you get older, you’ll have that experience.” So I was expecting that to come out of her mouth. I went to go get the cookbook, and as soon as I got it, I started to cook. The reason I wanted the cookbook was, because I didn’t want to bother my mom for directions. When I opened the book to pancakes it said: first, pour pancake in a measuring cup to the top line. Second, pour water in with the powder, and always remember to put half the water. Third, mix it together until it’s smooth and silky. Fourth, pour a medium –sized circle on the pan you’re cooking with always has to be sprayed with Pam or rubbed with butter when your making pancakes. Fifth, cook the pancakes for three minutes on one side and one minute on the other and don’t forget to flip them. Sixth, when you’re done cooking the pancakes, put them on a clean plate and butter them, and put any other topping on it you want.
So when I was done I put syrup on my parents’ and my sisters’ pancakes, but I didn’t put any on mine or my brothers, because I don’t like it and my brothers allergic to it. So when I started putting the plates of pancakes on the table, the rest of my family members started waking up and coming in the kitchen. When they started eating they said it was very good.
