NEESgrid Early Adopter Program Sridhar Gullapalli USC/Information Sciences Institute + The SI Team + EA Team
Agenda • Introduction: 11:15 to 11:30 AM (Sridhar Gullapalli) • Outline and goals: • People on each team • POC • E-Mail Lists • EA Plan: 11:30 to 11:45 AM (Sridhar Gullapalli) • EA Plan Discussion: 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM (Laura Pearlman) • Next Steps: 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM (Doru Marcusiu) • Site Responsibilities • SI Team Responsibilities
Architecture Approach (System Architecture Document) • Develop common infrastructure that can used across all NEES applications • Balance generic mechanisms, extensibility for future growth, efficiency for application specific tasks • Validate against user requirements • Input from user requirements analysis, site visits • Extending proven grid technologies • Developing custom solutions for NEES specific requirements (e.g. Data, DAQ, Video services)
The Early Adopter Program(from the EA Document) • Spiral Model • Iterative deployment, testing and refinement • Timeline roughly 6 months (this phase) • EA sites • RPI, Reno, Oregon State • Shadow Sites and other users • NEES Equipment Sites • Researchers in Earthquake Engineering field
Conclusion of a “test” or “run” Change/adjust parameters and repeat test or conclude experiment or revise experiment
Partial listing of components • Collaboration Tools • Local (on-site) Storage & Central Data Repository • DAQ • Prototype Data Models and Services • Streaming data services • Streaming video Services • Tele-operations (control will not be supported during the EA Phase) • NEESPOP and Services
Global Timelines • Communicating Plan Apr 15 • Tracking NMI release May 7 • Strawman data model Apr 15 • LabVIEW setup at ANL/ISI May 15 • NEESPOP, Video Server and Local Storage Solution, LabVIEW DAQ (version 6.1) setup and installation at EA Jun 1 • Prototype Telepresence server at EA Jul 1 • Streaming data specification Aug 1 • Streaming data implementation (based on LabVIEW version 6.1) Aug 1 • Initiate Experiments phase 1 Jul 15 • Conclude Experiment Phases Oct 15
EA Plan Discussion: 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM (LP) • Is the generic experimental model accurate? Representative? • Are site specific modes accurate? • Tune up details
Next Steps: 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM (DM) • Site Responsibilities (DM) • Status of Equipment and Software purchase • NEESPOP • Video Server (Linux box) + cameras + appliances • Local Storage Solutions • DAQ: Setup and LabVIEW 6.1 installation • Hardware Installation • Access to systems by SI team • Define Experimental Requirements • Define Experimental Procedures • Learn/Use Collaboration Tools
