Following external review and report to Cabinet November 2008 Head of SFYP appointed June 2009 Youth Service Manager appointed February 2010 Youth Service Strategy adopted September 2009 Outcome Improvement Plan (OIP) refreshed annually as the focus of work programmes. A number of changes of Full time and Part time Youth Workers -including 3 f/t trainees (degree course) and Basic Youth Work training. All CRB checked, including all volunteers. Key focus from approved strategy ‘More Young People, More involved, in More Locations across RBWM’ More sessions at youth centre, more work with schools, more use of the assets and facilities available. 6. Summer Programme 2010 – with Leisure Services and WDHA, in 2011 Youth Service will lead. Planning underway. Half term – Activities routinely programmed Get Active project – aimed at target groups, previously referral basis, re-launched September 2010, now drop in. From 6 youth centres, plus Broom Farm, and South Ascot Park. OEP – inspected Autumn 2010 ‘an excellent service for young people that is founded on the unique benefits of youth work in outdoor education’. Duke of Edinburgh– 22 Groups across RBWM, in Schools and Youth Centres (5). September DoE Awards Evening saw over 120 recipients receive awards. Key metrics – end of P9 2010/11 Participation at centres = 3050 young people (1417 in 2009/10) Recorded Outcomes = 567 young people (476 in 2009/10) Accredited Outcomes = 538 young people (223 in 2009/10) Targeted Youth Support Panel (TYS) Established February 2010, monthly multi agency referral panel, receives referrals from Schools, Connexions, Youth Centres, via CAF process. Action plan of support and review follow up. Youth Conference 2010 February over 120 young people views , schools youth groups workshops and Question Time style session chaired by MYP with Lead member, C/Ex, DCS. Very positive feedback form Young People. Next event to be planned for later in 2011. Youth Council re-launched during 2010, presentation to Council September 2010. Youth Service Update

8. Working with Young Offenders - targeted through three approaches YOT (Youth Offending Team) YISP (Youth Inclusion Support Programme) FIP (Family Intervention Programme) YOT working with Young People 10-18 years of age Work includes 28 Young People with current Court Orders Strong emphasis on restorative justice – includes support for community projects eg Waterway clearance, and Help in Charity Shop. Volunteers - trained to provide Referral Order Panels, Mentoring, Project Work, supporting Young People in Court and employment. 3 Main PIs Reducing First time entrants to CJS Reducing re-offending of convicted YP Reducing the need for use of Custody Youth Offending Team Update

9. YISP Working with Young People 8 – 17 who are at risk of becoming engaged in offending or anti social behaviour. Voluntary prevention programme. Currently working with 17 young people In 2010 21 YP worked with, only 2 gone on to commit further offences and 1 subject to ASBO. FIP Works with high risk families focused on reducing offending. 18 families, highly intensive work, based upon assessment and employing sanction and reward techniques Stopping anti social behaviour, and offending behaviour Preventing Young People entering CJS, maximising life chances, including school attendance and attainment, reducing risks associated with Child Protection issues such as neglect and emotional abuse. Youth Service Update Key messages • More Young people, More Involved, in More Locations, numbers are up • Increased the number of sessions delivered via Youth Centres, and this continues • Increased the range of sessions offered with re-branded Get Active Programme • Using the other facilities more (Hurley Lock, BCA, Datchet Sailing etc).
