  3. Why would I visit a Counselor? • Personal Issues • Conflict with peers • Academic problems • Career Planning • Strategies for difficult classes

  4. What should I be doing now? • Organizing materials • Getting Involved • Attending School Daily • Building a GPA

  5. Academic Success • Keep planner updated with due dates of tests, projects and quizzes. • Where do you go for help? • A+ time- extended school services. • Write down phone numbers of at least two people in all of your classes. • Ask your teacher if they come early or stay late. Get a pass from your teacher for early appointments.

  6. GPA • Builds over a 4 year period • Grades today will determine the college you attend later • Every point counts—NO ZEROES! • Colleges see final grades of 9/10/11/12!

  7. Attendance Counts • Absent—Parent calls in by 9am • Bring a note the next day • 3 days to request make up work (w/an excused note) • New Board policy—after 10 absences you must have a dr. note for every day you miss school!!!!

  8. GetInvolved!!! Clubs and Organizations • Pick at least one club or organization and get involved your freshmen year. • Volunteer in the community– nursing homes, red cross, volunteer at a hospital, walks for a cure,
