Exercise TRANSGLOBE 15/16 aims to develop personal qualities required for military success through a demanding trans-ocean sailing expedition. The expedition will challenge participants, raise the profile of Services Offshore Sailing, and provide opportunities for sponsor organizations.

  2. Exercise TRANSGLOBE 2015-16 AIM To sail 2 Challenge 72 Yachts around the world as a means of developing the personal qualities required to ensure success in military operations. INTENT A demanding trans-ocean sailing expedition that will challenge participants, raise the profile of Services Offshore Sailing whilst providing opportunities for sponsor organisations.

Exercise Concept • Build on the successes of TRANSGLOBE 09-10 • 2 x JSASTC yachts circumnavigating the globe enabling up to 394 Servicemen and women (197 Army) to experience ocean and offshore sailing in large yachts. • 35,000nm approx over 14 months. • 11,956 Man Training Days of AT Participation. • 13 Legs – each 2 to 8 weeks duration. • Participate in Rolex SYDNEY - HOBART • Acclimatisation before and R&R after Legs. • More than just a ‘sail’ from A to B.

PARTICIPATION • All ranks (Serving or Reserves, Cadet Forces over the age of 18) • All levels of experience (complete novice to Ocean Yachtmaster) • 15 Crew • Skipper (Yachtmaster Ocean) • 2 x Mates (Yachtmaster / Coastal Skipper) • 3 x Watch Leaders (Day Skipper to Yachtmaster) • 9 x Crew (Competent Crew or Complete Novice)
