Other Considerations Shift Work (inc. night shifts) Travel to Clinical Placements Working across the whole region to include Kings Lynn Strict Course Attendance (16 days absence permitted) Fixed vacation for the whole course. Parking for theory sessions (Park and Ride) Childcare Support Relevant Experience

  8. Example of Timetable (Year 1) • Student must be available for lectures between 0900 – 1700 hours. • Vacation time is fixed for the 3 years.

  9. Clinical Placements • Placements take place across the region using: • Acute Hospitals • Nursing Homes • Community Hospitals • Community Nurses, Health Visitors, and Midwives, • Health Centres and GP Practices • Ambulance Trust • Elective option • All students are expected to be able to travel to placement areas but reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs may be available.

  10. Clinical Placements (Example) • Year 1 • Term A: 2 weeks Observational Placement • Term B: 7 weeks • Term C: 7 weeks • Year 2 • Term A: 7 weeks • Term B: 7 weeks • Term C: 7 weeks • Year 3 • Term A: 7 weeks • Term B: 7 weeks • Term C: 10 weeks • 2 weeks Elective Option

Assessment Methods • Practice • Learning Outcomes • Skills • Attitude • Theory • Portfolio • Essay • Observed Structured • Clinical Examination (OSCE) • Written Examination • Dissertation • Notes • Maximum of two attempts for theory and practice • 40% mark required for Theory • Pass required for all practical outcomes

Additional Information • If successful and offered a place you would need to: • Complete a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau Check. • Complete a satisfactory Occupational Health Medical Check • Cover the cost of the first two Hepatitis B Vaccinations. • Cover the cost for your GP to complete the Occupational Health Questionnaire Doctor’s Statement. • Arrange accommodation (if required) directly with the UEA Accommodations Office – www.uea.ac.uk/accom

Entry Requirements Course Entry Requirements can be located on our website at: www.uea.ac.uk/nam The minimum Diploma Course requirements are 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above which must include English and Mathematics with Science also preferred. The minimum Degree Course requirements are 3 A-Levels at Grades BCC (Academic Subjects) accompanied by GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above with Science also preferred.

  17. How to Apply All applications must be submitted via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission Service) online at: www.ucas.ac.uk The deadline for “on time” applications is 15th January 2010. Late applications may not be processed.
