  11. Unintended insults • “Jesus is like a little God” • “Jesus was just a great teacher.” • “Jesus was a prophet, just like Mohammed was a prophet” • “There are many roads to God; Jesus is just one of them.”

  12. JESUS WAS/IS THE CLEAREST PICTURE WE HAVE OF GOD! • JESUS IS THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD!

Exalting Jesus • Our sins sent Jesus to the cross • Acts 2:36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom youcrucified, both Lord and Messiah.” • Acts 4:10 “then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom youcrucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

Exalting Jesus • A face to face encounter with the risen Jesus will move you to bow down. • Mt 28:8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.

  15. Exalting Jesus • Our sins sent Jesus (God of the Universe) to the cross • A face to face encounter with Jesus moves us to bow down in humility • Jesus went back to heaven and today is seated at the “right hand of God the Father”; closest! • John 6: “I and the Father are one”

Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the righthandofGod and is also interceding for us.” • Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the righthandofGod.

  17. Exalting Jesus • Heb 1:3 The Son is the radiance ofGod’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the righthandof the Majesty in heaven. NIV • This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God’s nature. He holds everything together by what he says—powerful words!3 After he finished the sacrifice for sins, the Son took his honored place high in the heavens right alongside God, far higher than any angel in rank and rule.   19. So What? • You don’t need to carry your wrongs/sin/guilt any more • You don’t need to carry the wrongs/sin/guilt done to you any more • Self help groups without the cross are lacking • Close your eyes • See Jesus

  20. Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace Through death into life everlastingHe passed, and we follow Him there;O’er us sin no more hath dominion—For more than conqu’rors we are!
