JULY • Week 1 • Check clock systems • Fertilize athletic fields • Drag and roll baseball/softball fields • Clean carpet in all buildings • Week 2 • Annual cleaning at Board office • Drag and roll baseball/softball fields once per week • Complete playground checklist • Week 3 • Check scoreboards, lights, and public address systems • Clean stadium facilities in preparation for football season • Drag and roll baseball/softball fields once per week • Week 4 • Trim all shrubs • Detail and service school vehicles • Drag and roll baseball/softball fields once per week

AUGUST • Week 1 • Paint parking lot lines and “NO PARKING” zones • Fertilize athletic fields • Week 2 • Prepare athletic fields and practice fields for season • Walking inspection of all buildings • Order custodial supplies • Roof inspection -- high school • Week 3 • Repair and/or replace drinking fountains • Roof inspection -- North Lawn • Week 4 • Semi-annual exhaust fan inspection & service • Semi-annual fire door inspection & service

  4. SEPTEMBER • Week 1 • Fertilize athletic fields • Six-month asbestos inspection & service • Drag and roll baseball/softball fields once per week • Week 2 • Inspect all bleachers for safety • Week 3 • Prepare all boilers in system for heating season • Check treatment level and all safety devices for correct position • Check sump pumps throughout district • Change HVAC filters

  5. OCTOBER • Week 1 • Sump pump maintenance: check operation, clean and grease • Boiler start-up & check operation of all controls • Week 2 • Semi-annual check of emergency & exit lights • Change diesel fuel to winter blend

  6. NOVEMBER • Week 1 • Take off mower decks (sharpen blades & check for damage to be repaired) • Install snow blades & chains • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 2 • Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary • Prepare scoreboards ready for basketball • Prepare baseball field for winter & spring use • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 3 • Close football stadium for winter (if football season is over) • Aerate football field: go over field at least 4 times & apply fertilizer/weed preventer • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 4 • Store walk-behind mowers: (sharpen blades & check for damage) • Winterize trucks, tractors, and vans • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary

DECEMBER • Week 1 • Monthly check of stadium for vandalism etc. • Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary • Monitor boiler operation and evaluation • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 2 • Mower repair (if necessary) • Six-month asbestos inspection & service • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 3 • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 4 • Winter break: maintenance work that could not be completed while school is in session • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary

JANUARY • Week 1 • Monthly check of stadium for vandalism etc. • Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary • Monitor boiler operation and evaluation • Semi-annual fire door inspection & service • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 2 • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 3 • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 4 • Assess paint needs for summer painting • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary

FEBRUARY • Week 1 • Monthly check of stadium for vandalism etc. • Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary • Monitor boiler operation and evaluation • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Semi-annual fire door inspection & service • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 2 • Order crabgrass treatment to be applied at appropriate time (on or before St. Patrick’s Day) • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 3 • Semi-annual check of emergency & exit lights • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Order HVAC Filters • Week 4 • Contact Greenbush for cooperative purchasing contract catalogs for custodial supplies • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary

MARCH • Week 1 • Aerate all practice and playing fields • Plant fescue seed on all practice fields • Monthly check of return pumps: service & repair if necessary • Apply crabgrass pre-emergent treatment • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 2 • Remove snow blades and chains: repair & store • Service all tractors in preparation for mowing • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Create list of areas to be painted • Weekly check of water treatment blow-down and add treatment as necessary • Week 3 • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Open stadium for spring sports: turn on water, check for leaks, repair toilets etc. • Check track for damage and repair as necessary • Week 4 • Set-up water system at stadium and check operation • Set-up water system at practice fields • Change HVAC filters

APRIL • Week 1 • Exhaust fan inspection & service • Start mowing schedule as necessary • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Fertilize all fields • Week 2 • Order nitrogen fertilizer for summer application • Paint list returned for order • Week 3 • Hire summer employees • Order gym finish and applicators

  12. MAY • Week 1 • Fertilize all fields • Create summer paint schedule • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Week 2 • Finalize summer maintenance schedule • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Week 3 • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Week 4 • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds

  13. JUNE • Week 1 • Fertilize all fields • Six-month asbestos inspection & service • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Week 2 • Maintenance vacations can begin • Start summer crews (mowing & paint) • Drag and roll baseball/softball diamonds • Week 3 • Resurface all gym floors • Check & service all electric motors in district
