The NBCE The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners was founded in 1963 as other healthcare professionals (osteopaths, podiatrists, dentists, and medical doctors) were forming national boards in their respective professions.
The NBCE • The goal of the founding members was to test members of the chiropractic profession directly, rather than requiring them to take the Basic Science Boards of other health care professions.
The NBCE and the FCLB • Although the NBCE was established as a result of feasibility studies by the FCLB, the NBCE is a testing organization with a distinctly separate mission and organization.
The NBCE and State Boards • NBCE is NOT a licensing agency • State boards relinquish no legal authority • State board members remain actively involved in test production and delivery
