Recent Discussion and Outcome 1 The 14th PRTR Task Force 3-5 October 2011 in Paris • Joint Session with the TF on Exposure Assessment • Further information exchange on Release from Products • Launched a joint expert group for a case study on a sewage treatment plant • Release estimation techniques for release from products • Collecting data for candidate products with a view to select a shot list and investigate further in 2012. (car-care product, packaging material, building and construction products, and sunscreens)
Recent Discussion and Outcome 2 • Towards a Global PRTR system: A study for standardizing and grouping pollutant names • The report will be soon available. • Future investigation on target sectors and thresholds. • Release estimation techniques • Point Sources (published Resource Compendium in 2002): TF starts to consider revision. • Diffuse Sources (published Resource Compendium in 2003) • FYI: Resource Compendium on Off-site Transfers in 2005 and Releases from Products in 2011.
Recent Discussion and Outcome 3 • Application, use and presentation of PRTR data • TF starts discussion and distributes questionnaire to members. • Round Table and 1st Round Table Part II • Part II is a Special Roundtable for two specific topics: • 1) PRTR and sustainable development, 2) experiences and practices in ensuring data quality for releases and transfers reported to PRTR registers • Update of Data Centres • PRTR.net • Resource Centre for PRTR Release Estimation Techniques • Centre for PRTR Data
Next Meetings • Next meeting will be held in September 2012. • To update and discuss on going works • To share information on national/regional progress made in member countries • To discuss future work programme of the TF beyond 2012. • Back-to-back meeting with the Working Group of the Parties to the Protocol on PRTRs in 2013. • Two days meeting OECD TF + Roundtable session jointly with the WG of the Protocol on PRTRs + two days Working Group of the Parties to the Protocol on PRTRs + a meeting of the international PRTRs CG
