Workshop Description Success as a faculty member rarely is accomplished alone.  Effective teaching, research, and service all require a great deal of teamwork and support to ensure that you have the time, resources, and tools to perform at your best.  In this session, we will discuss specific strategies for building an effective support team through the recruitment and development of undergraduate and graduate research assistants, teaching assistants, and lab members.

Learning Objectives • To identify the various options available to faculty for recruiting undergraduate and graduate students; • To articulate a preliminary plan for how they may incorporate student support into their work to maximize productivity; • To describe the criteria to be used in the selection process; • To understand the steps used in on-boarding new team members
