the barn shack rail attack. The Barn Shack Rail Attack will stand alone as the most important pre-season rail competition of 2008. Hosted Saturday Nov. 10th at a private barn located in the southern tip of the Golden Horseshoe, the event will draw an exclusive list of who’s who riders from the Ontario jib scene and beyond.
the barn shack rail attack. And with resort riding still a month away, the Barn Shack Rail Attack guarantees exclusive exposure to hundreds of snowboard consumers hungry for a taste of ANY snowboard action. With movie premieres, vendor’s village, a hot tub and body paint, this jam format competition is sure to attract a large number of spectators and industry from the Simcoe region and across the GTA.
event venue. The Location. Located just 10 minutes north of Bradford with easy access from Hwy 400 or Hwy 11, this one acre property is nestled nicely amongst grain silos and corn fields. Sound is not an issue, nor are complaints from neighbours (good luck finding any!)
event venue. The Property. With an acre of green space, the property features a large barn, upper level bar, trampoline, camp fire, hot tub, space for a vendors village, porta-potties for the day and plenty of parking.
event venue. The Bar(n). Event VIPS will dig the Jagermeister draft machine perched on the bar, the OG snowboards mounted to the ceiling, and the old images, photos and banners that adorn the place. Finished in original post and beam construction, this venue is a true haven for any shred. When was the last time you drank at a bar with a 1977 Burton Performer hanging on the wall?
jib setup. Taking advantage of the natural features found on the property, a tree top drop-in ramp will serve as the starting point for riders competing in the event. Lined with high grade plastic mesh and covered with hockey spit arena snow, riders will drop-in to a 50’ steel I-beam flat bar.
jib setup. While an easy rail for most shreds to step to, the length of the rail itself will allow for long, smooth flowing lips or presses, while permitting for more technical switch-ups should things start going off. The course will be lined with hay bales and crowd corrals.
competition format. Men. 40 invites will be sent, with the first 25 riders to register making up the field. The structure itself will be a true jam format, with riders judged by their peers in a winner takes all cash event. A best trick comp will follow. Secondary prizes will also be awarded. No judges. No politics. No bullshit. Just a crew of top-level Ontario shreds jammin out on the farm in a fun filled day of riding and partying.
competition format. Women. As is often the case, the structure of the women’s competition will be driven by the number of female riders registered for the event. 10 invites will be sent, with the first 6 females responding rounding out the competition field. They will compete amongst the men in the jam format competition, and will have their own cash purse. Secondary prizes will also be awarded.
