College Applications • Start immediately senior year • NWTC has a three day application window for high demand programs in the Health Field (Beginning of September) • Early Application deadlines • Some programs apply as Juniors
Financial Aid • Overview of FAFSA through the SAR Report (see stapled packet) • Parent must fill out for student to be eligible for any financial aid. • You can estimate EFC right now through the link on the Counseling Website. • TIP – State Funded Program • Senior Financial Aid Night (January) • Loans/Grants (free money)/Scholarships
Tips • You should apply to your school of choice as early in the Fall as possible. On-line is the fastest way, but watch for the counselor page that usually needs to be printed off. Ferris and MTU waive the application fees if you apply on-line. Look for this in other colleges as well.
If you schedule campus visits, make sure you arrange to meet with a counselor as well. If you only schedule a tour, they may not have someone available to discuss career planning and course selection. • FYI – School policy allows FIVE Pre-arrange absences (to visit a college campus). College’s are aware of the importance of school attendance and gladly arrange weekend visits and tours. • Those interested in apprenticeships, legwork must be done in the beginning of the year to meet application deadlines.
