Turning a Taper First of all fix the bar in the chuck with the Chuck key.
Turning a Taper Now rotate the Compound slide to the desired angle.
Turning a Taper Next Lower the Guard into position.
Turning a Taper Move the Tool closer to the workpiece with the Saddle wheel.
Turning a Taper Switch the Lathe On
Turning a Taper Use the Compound Slide to take the first small cut off the bar
Turning a Taper Use the Compound Slide to take the first small cut off the bar (about 1mm)
Turning a Taper Then wind the Compound Slide back
Turning a Taper Move the Cross slide in to take a second cut.
Turning a Taper Use the Compound slide to take a second cut.
Turning a Taper Repeat this process until the desired taper is achieved (Remember to take a light cut with each pass of the tool tip)
Turning a Taper Switch the lathe Off .
Turning a Taper Lift the Safety Guard.
Turning a Taper Remove the workpiece.
Process Completed Well Done
