  2. CentreLathe Safety Guard Chuck Tailstock The picture on the left shows a Centre Lathe which is used for turning metals Bed Headstock Compound Slide Cross Slide Toolpost Saddle wheel The main parts are as shown EmergencyStop

  3. Facing a Bar First of all fix the bar in the chuck with the chuck key.

  4. Facing a Bar To Face the end of this bar start by lowering the Safety Guard

  5. Facing a Bar Now use the Saddle Wheel to move the tool closer to the workpiece

  6. Facing a Bar Next use the Compound slide to move the toolpost in until it is ready to cut

  7. Facing a Bar Now switch On the lathe

  8. Facing a Bar Finally use the cross slide to pass the lathe tool across the face of the bar taking a fine even paced cut.

  9. Facing a Bar Switch the Lathe Off

  10. Facing a Bar Use the Saddle wheel to return the lathe tool to its original position then lift the guard.

  11. This process may have to be repeated more than once

  12. Process Completed Well Done
