PYP Exhibition Introduction: • The Primary Years programme (PYP) exhibition represents a significant event in the life of a PYP school and student, synthesizing the essential elements of the PYP and sharing them with the whole school community. As a culminating experience it is an opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) learner profile that have been developing throughout their engagement with the PYP.

  4. Transdisciplinary Theme Who we are An inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.

  5. Transdisciplinary Theme This unit is all about: • who the students are • what they really care about • what changes they want to make

  6. PYP Key Concepts Form What is it like? Function How does it work Causation Why is it like it is? Change How is it changing? Connection How is it connected to other things? Perspective What are the points of view? Responsibility What is our responsibility? Reflection How do we know?

  7. How can parents help? Parents can: • keep informed about the process by reading emails and talking to their child • support and encourage their children • provide knowledge • respect ownership of the process • help to access resources – people, places, media and information • Celebrate with the students by attending the final presentations.

  10. Visual Journals • Students will create a Global Issues Visual Journal • They will take pictures, cut newspaper articles • They can write questions, cite interesting quotes, draw pictures, create poems, etc. • Students should have at least two entries for each of the themes 

  11. Parent Experts • Please contact us if you are an expert in any of the themes or if you know of someone who would be willing to share their expertise.
