  3. Color Wheel Terms CHROMA The intensity or Purity of a color HUE The name of the spectral color. VALUE The light and darks of the color. INTENSITY The brightness or dullness of the color.

  5. Primary Colors Primary colors are basic hues from which all other colors are made, except black & white. BLUE YELLOW RED

  6. Secondary Colors When two primary hues are mixed, they produce secondary colors. PURPLE GREEN ORANGE

  7. Intermediate Colors Intermediate (tertiary) colors are made by mixing one primary color and one secondary color that are located right beside each other on the color wheel. Blue purple Blue green Yellow green Red purple Red orange Yellow orange

  8. Terms COOL COLORS Blue/Purple/Green TONES Colors made by mixing Colors with grays TINTS Colors made by mixing colors with white. OPACITY The amount of light that passes through the color. SHADES Colors made by mixing colors with black. NEUTRAL COLORS White/Black/Gray/Brown WARM COLORS Red/Yellow/Orange

  9. Color Schemes ANALOGOUS Combines colors that are side by side on the color wheel. MONOCHROMATIC Shades and tints of one color. COMPLIMENTARY Colors that are directly opposite on the color wheel. COOL COLORS WARM COLORS TRIAD COLORS 3 Colors that are located equidistance apart on the color wheel. EARTH COLORS NEUTRAL COLORS
