  3. About Martha Schwartz. • Martha Schwartz, born 1950, is an American landscape architect. Her background is in the fine arts as well as landscape architecture, and her projects range from private to urban scale. She studied at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and graduated from the University of Michigan . Schwartz currently has firms in Cambridge, Massachusetts and London. She was married to landscape architect Peter Walker (architect).Having had over 30 years of experience as a landscape architect and artist, she has received a number of highly regarded awards and prizes including the Cooper-Hewitt Museum National Design Award for her body of work in Landscape Architecture, an honorary fellowship from RIBA, several design awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects,and visiting residencies at Radcliff College and the American Academy in Rome, although accolades in the art world continue to evade her work.

  4. About MSP. • Martha Schwartz Partners (MSP) was formed in 1990 to provide a full range of landscape design services conceived and executed at the highest artistic level possible. Over the years, our practice has evolved from providing landscape design services primarily for private sector urban environments to large-scale public projects, land reclamation, and planning studies. MSP has offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts and London, UK. • MSP's philosophy recognizes that we, as a world community, now generally live within built environments; therefore, the quality of the design of these built environments affects, in large part, the quality of our existence. Additionally, as we see ourselves as part of "nature," aesthetics are a necessary component of environmentalism. The aesthetic quality, or design, of our environments will determine their success and relevance to our respective cultures.

About MSP. • At MSP, our designs synthesize complex social issues with the requirements of environmentally sound practice; however, in keeping with our office's design philosophy, we also bring a strong aesthetic focus to each project. While knowing that every project must be solved at an ecological level, MSP goes beyond each site's technical requirements to search for aesthetic solutions that in turn create value, a sense of identity, and determine the sustainability of a landscape. • With our considerable talent and experience, MSP brings this balance between environmental practice and aesthetics to national and international projects ranging in scale and scope from public plazas, parks, master plans, urban redevelopment, reclamation, and mixed-use developments to art commissions and private residences.

About MSP. • London Office:Posted 29 October 2009 • The London office of Martha Schwartz Partners is currently looking for applicants for the following positions:Experienced Project Designers - Our London office has immediate openings for two experienced Project Designers with 2-3+ years of experience. These positions offer the opportunity to work on teams that are conceptualizing worldwide projects including site-specific urban plazas, green roofs, large scale urban spaces, and city branding and master planning.We are looking for talented designers with exceptional ability to conceptualize creative landscapes. Please apply only if this describes your ability and experience. The right candidates will have excellent Autocad, Photoshop, and 3-D modeling skills - preferably Rhino and V-Ray. (Sketch-up does not meet the 3D modeling requirement.) Team skills and a masters degree in landscape architecture or architecture are required. These positions are initially offered on a project-by-project basis beginning in November, and may become permanent positions.
