  3. Causes of the Great Depression • Stock market crash, Black Tuesday, October 24 ,1929 • Banks, stores, and factories all closed • DUST BOWL • Demand and business low & savings lost

  4. What were the conditions during the GreatDepression? Hobos, tramps, “ jungles”& “Riding the rails’’. Suffered the most ever, pea pickers, waste nothing! Sold land & belongings, left for west FDR gave New Deal, elected in 1932 Many held strikes

  5. Why is it called the Great Depression? It equals great sadness from losing jobs, money, and homes Depress- Sadness Unemployed record high Pay & business low, Stock Market crashed Lasted more than a decade
