  2. Discouragement • Life is unjust/unfair: Ecc. 7:15 • Christians will suffer persecution: 2 Tim. 3:10-12, Acts 14:21-22

  3. When we are discouraged: • Reminded of our calling: 1 Cor. 1:23, 26-27 • Reminded of Christ’s warnings: Matt. 10:34, Mark 8:34-38 • Reminded of the quality of our faith: 1 Pet. 1:7, Job 23:10

  4. Side Effects of Discouragement • Doubt: -Results of false doctrine: 2 Tim. 2:17 -Shipwrecked Faith: 1 Tim. 1:19 -Weak brother: 1 Cor. 8, Rom. 14 • Tears: Acts 20:29-31 • Grow weary: Gal. 6:9, 2 Thess 3:13 • Lose heart: 2 Cor. 4:1, 16 • Fall away: Matt. 13:20-21

  5. Overcoming Discouragement • It may have a purpose: Ecc. 7:3, 2 Cor. 7:10 • Judas vs. Peter: Matt. 27:3-5, 26:75/Jn 21:17 • Keep things in perspective: 2 Cor. 4:7-9, 17-18
