  2. 1 Tes. 5:14, “que amonestéis a los ociosos, que alentéis a los de poco ánimo, que sostengáis a los débiles, que seáis pacientes para con todos”. • 1 Thess. 5:14, “warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted (Lit. “small souled.” dispirited, despondent), uphold the weak, be patient with all.”

  3. Descorazonados, no sentir entusi-asmo, asistencia irregular, llegar tarde, aburridos, indiferentes, no enseñan a otros, no visitan … • Disheartened, feel no enthusiasm, irregular attendance, arrive late, bored, indifferent, do not teach others, do not visit …

  4. Laodicea, Apoc. 3:16, “puesto que eres tibio te vomitaré de mi boca”. Es lo que Jesús piensa de la tibieza (indiferencia, sin entusiasmo). • Laodicea, Rev. 3:16, “because you are lukewarm, I will vomit you out of my mouth.” This is what Jesus thinks of lukewarmness (indiffer-ence, without enthusiasm).

  5. Comida tibia revuelve el estómago. Indiferencia = no experimenta sentimientos ardientes, evangelio no afecta las emociones. • Lukewarm food upsets the stomach. Indifference = does not experiment fervent sentiments, gospel does not affect emotions.

  6. Rom 12:11, “fervientes en espíritu, sirviendo al Señor” - pero en los desalentados la gracia no prende lumbre, sino solamente chispas. • Rom 12:11, “fervent in spirit, serving the Lord” – but in the discouraged, grace does not start a fire, but only produces sparks.

  7. Doble ánimo – causa principal del desaliento. Tener dos maestros opuestos, andar en dos caminos opuestos, dos destinos opuestos. • Double-minded – principal cause of discouragement. Have two oppos-ing masters, walk in two opposing ways, two opposing destinies.

  8. Problema básico: ¡NO HAY COMPROMISO! ¿Hay compromiso en el matrimonio, negocio o em-pleo, compras (casa, vehículo)? • Basic problem: THERE IS NO COMMITMENT! Is there a commit-ment in marriage, business or employment, purchases (house, vehicle)?

  9. Núm 21:4, “se desanimó el pueblo por el camino”. 11:5 “Nos acorda-mos del pescado que comíamos en Egipto de balde”. 14:3, “¿No nos sería mejor volvernos a Egipto?” Num 21:4, “people became very discouraged on the way.” 11:5, “We remember .. Egypt”; 14:3, “be better for us to return to Egypt?”

  10. Santiago 4:8 “los de doble ánimo, purificad vuestros corazones”. Es el único remedio. Debemos esco-ger! Iglesia o mundo. Jos. 24:15. • James 4:8, “purify your hearts, you double-minded.” This is the only remedy. We must choose! Church or world. Josh. 24:15.

  11. Temor, timidez – Deut 1:28, “Este pueblo es mayor y más alto que nosotros, las ciudades grandes y amuralladas hasta el cielo”. • Fear, timidity – Deut. 1:28, "The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven.”

  12. Una razón por la falta del evange-lismo personal: timidez, temor de lo que piensen, digan, hagan; temor de ofender, perder amigo. • One reason for the lack of personal evangelism: timidity, fear of what they may think, say, do; fear of offending, lose a friend.

  13. Deut. 1:21, “sube y toma posesión de ella; no temas ni desmayes” 20:3, “no temáis, ni tampoco os desalentéis”. ¡Cualquier objetivo! • Deut. 1:21, “go up and take pos-session of it; do not fear nor faint”; 20:3, “do not fear, nor be discour-aged.” Whatever objective!

  14. Presión de ser iguales – hacer, hablar, cantar, vestirse, vivir como los demás. No ser diferentes. Ser aceptado, incluido, popular. • Peer pressure – do, talk, sing, dress, live like the rest. Don’t be different. Be accepted, included, be popular, not left out.

  15. “Todo el mundo lo hace”. Por eso NO DEBE HACERLO, Rom 12:2, “No os conforméis a este siglo (mundo), sino transformaos ...” • “Everyone does it”. That’s the reason for YOU TO NOT DO IT, Rom. 12:2, “Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed ..”

  16. “Todo el mundo lo hace”. Por eso NO DEBE HACERLO, Rom 12:2, “No os conforméis a este siglo (mundo), sino transformaos ...” • Prov. 1:11, “Come with us; 14 cast in your lot with us; lets all have one purse,” but Jesus says, “Come unto me” Matt. 11:28.

  17. 1 Ped 4:4, “A éstos les parece cosa extraña que vosotros no corráis con ellos en el mismo desenfreno de disolución, y os ultrajan”. • 1 Pet 4:4, “they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation (wasting your life), speaking evil of you.”

  18. Oposición, crítica, burla - desanima pero Mat. 5:11, 12 – Dichosos, por-que compartimos esto con Jesús y los profetas y apóstoles. • Opposition, criticism, mockery – discourages, but Matt 5:11, 12 – Blessed, because we share this with Jesus, prophets, apostles.

  19. Jóvenes en la escuela perseguidos si creen la Biblia, si rechazan evolución, fornicación, ropa des-honesta, lenguaje pesado. • Young people persecuted in school, if believe the Bible, reject evolution, sexual immoralty, immodest clothing, bad language.

  20. 1 Ped 4:16, “si alguno padece como cristiano, no se avergüence, sino glorifique a Dios por ello”. Extremistas, legalistas, antis … • 1 Pet 4:16, “if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.” Extremists, legalists, antis …

  21. Aflicción física causa desaliento. Aun fatiga, desvelos, ciertas medi-cinas. No concentrarse en lo que no tiene, sino en LO QUE TIENE. • Physical affliction causes discour-agement. Even fatigue, losing sleep or some medicine. Don’t concen-trate on what don’t have, but rather on WHAT YOU DO HAVE.

  22. 2 Cor 4:16, “no desmayamos; antes aunque este nuestro hombre exte-rior se va desgastando, el interior no obstante se renueva de día en día”. ¿El aguijón en la carne? • 2 Cor 4:16, “we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” Thorn?

  23. 2 Cor 12:8 “respecto a lo cual tres veces he rogado al Señor, que lo quite de mí. 9 Y me ha dicho: Bástate mi gracia; porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad”. • 2 Cor 12:8 “Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."

  24. 2 Cor 12:9, “Por tanto, de buena gana me gloriaré más bien en mis debilidades, para que repose sobre mí el poder de Cristo”. • 2 Cor 12:9, “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

  25. 2 Cor 12:10, “Por lo cual me gozo en las debilidades, en afrentas, en necesidades, en persecuciones, en angustias; porque cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte”. • 2 Cor 12:10, “I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

  26. Problemas no resueltos desaniman 2 Tim 3:16,17, Escrituras pueden resolver problemas, pero ¿queremos soluciones bíblicas? • Unsolved problems discourage. 2 Tim. 3:16, 17, Scriptures can solve problems, but do we want Bible solutions?

  27. Sólo quieren “discutirlo”; gobierno arroja $ hacia sus problemas; demandar; divorciarse; dividir la iglesia. Con razón hay desaliento. • Only want to “discuss it,”; gov’t throws $ at problems … sue and go to court … divorce … divide church No wonder there’s discouragement

  28. Mat 5:23,24, hermano tiene algo contra ti, ve tú … 18:15, hermano peca contra ti, ve tú. Resolver problemas, evitar desaliento. • Matt 5:23,24, brother has some-thing against you, you go. 18:15, brother sin against you, you go. Solve problems, avoid discourage-ment.

  29. 1 Cor 6:5, “¿Pues qué, no hay entre vosotros sabio, ni aun uno, que pueda juzgar entre sus herma-nos?” Para resolver problemas. • 1 Cor. 6:5, “Is .. there .. not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?” To solve problems.

  30. Pocas conversiones, no crecemos. ¿Enseñamos a otros? ¿Habrá cosecha si no sembramos? “Nadie interesado”. ¿Qué tal nosotros? • Few conversions, no growth. Are we teaching others? Will there be a harvest if we do not plant seed? No one interested? What about us?

  31. ¿Es culpa nuestra? ¿Estudiamos para ser maestros efectivos? ¿Qué tal nuestra actitud? ¿De veras ama-mos las almas de los perdidos? • Is it our fault? Do we study so we can be effective teachers? Do we have the proper attitude? Do we really love the souls of the lost?

  32. Isa 55:11 “así será mi palabra que sale de mi boca; no volverá a mí vacía, sino que hará lo que yo quiero, y será prosperada en aquello para que la envié. • Isa. 55:11, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

  33. Afanes. Luc 21:34 “Mirad … que vuestros corazones no se carguen de glotonería y embriaguez y de los afanes de esta vida, y venga de repente sobre vosotros aquel día”. • Worries. Luc. 21:34, “But take heed lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.”

  34. Cosas materiales, deudas, nos pueden ahogar, 1 Tim 6:9. En lugar de querer más y mejor, debemos estar contentos con menos, v. 8. • Material things, debts, can drown us, 1 Tim. 6:9. Instead of wanting more and better, we should be content with less, v. 8.

  35. Más contentos, menos desanima-dos, si ayudamos a hermanos necesitados y hermanos fieles que quieren dedicarse a la obra. • More content, less discouraged, if we help brethren in need, and faithful brethren who want to dedicate full time to preaching.

  36. Lo que no debe hacer. No dejar de asistir, adorar a Dios: cantar, orar, estudiar, participar de la cena, ofrendar (¿cuántos la reemplazan?) • What you should not do. Don’t quit attending, worshipping God: sing, pray, study, partake of Lord’s Supper, contribute (how many make it up if out for months, years?

  37. No culpar a otros. Sea honesto. “Tú eres el hombre”; usted mismo tiene la culpa. ¿Cree que estamos aquí para que nos complazcan? • Don’t blame others. Be honest. “You are the man”; you yourself are to blame. Do you think we are here for others to please us?

  38. No es juego de pelota. No somos espectadores, sino participantes, para agradar a DIOS. Debemos hacerlo con ÁNIMO, Jn. 4:24. • This is not a ballgame. We are not spectators, but rather participants, to please GOD. We should do this with ENTHUSIASM. Jn. 4:24.

  39. Sobre todo, no volver “de lleno” al mundo (borrachera, adulterio). “¿Por qué no? ando mal, coma-mos, bebamos, mañana morimos”. • Above all, don’t plunge back into the world (drunkenness, adultery). “What’s the use? I’m wrong, might as well eat, drink and be merry, tomorrow we die.”

  40. 2 Ped 2:22 “El perro vuelve a su vómito, y la puerca lavada a revolcarse en el cieno”. Mucho más difícil arrepentirse, cambiar. • 2 Pet. 2:22, “A dog returns to its own vomit, and a sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.” Much more difficult to repent.

  41. Lo que debe hacer si desanimado. Más alimento, leche, alimento sóli-do de la Palabra, combatir anemia. Rom 1:17, fe viene por el oír. • What to do when discouraged. More food, milk and solid food from the Word of God, to combat anemia. Rom. 10:17, faith comes from hearing the Word.

  42. Estar consciente de sus muchas bendiciones. Sant. 1:17. No hay nada que desaliente más que la ingratitud. • Count your many blessings. James 1:17. Nothing discourages like ingratitude.

  43. Ser más activos en la obra del Señor. 1 Reyes 19:9, Elías, ¿qué haces aquí en la cueva? Levántate, tengo trabajo para ti. • Be more active in Lord’s work. 1 Kings 19:9, Elijah, what are you doing here in the cave? Get up, I have work for you to do.

  44. Dos familias (o más) unirse para dar estudios bíblicos, cantar, orar en sus hogares para convertir gente, y para edificarse. • Two families (or more) unite to have Bible studies, to sing, pray, in homes. To convert others, and to edify yourselves.

  45. Jóvenes, júntense para actividad social, también para visitar a los enfermos, cantar himnos, leer textos, orar -- para animarles. • Young people, get together for social activity, also to visit the sick, sing hymns, read Bible texts, pray - in order to encourage them.

  46. Orar y no desmayar. Luc 18:1, “les refirió Jesús una parábola sobre la necesidad de orar siempre, y no desmayar” (desanimarse). • Pray, not faint. Luke 18:1, “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not faint (lose heart, get discouraged).”

  47. Conclusión. Entender por qué está desanimado, resolver el problema. Es condición de la mente (como la felicidad). Fil. 4:11, 13. • Conclusion. Understand why you are discouraged, solve the problem It’s a condition of the mind (like happiness). Phil. 4:11, 13.
