AREA 2: ENHANCEMENT OF THE MEMORY, HISTORY AND EUROPEAN HERITAGE AIM OF AREA • to increase consciousness amongst the general public of the historical importance of the Cyril and Methodius tradition, to identify and improve common European cultural heritage including the intangible, which is common for a series of European countries, especially in Central and Eastern Europe • to initiate an intercultural dialogueon the Cyril and Methodius tradition, and apply it today in the effort to unite Europe • to engage as wide a spectrum of countries as possible that were influenced by Cyril and Methodius (Central, Eastern and Southern Europe)

AREA 2: ENHANCEMENT OF THE MEMORY, HISTORY AND EUROPEAN HERITAGE LEAD PARTNER OFAREA MORAVIAN SLOVAK MUSEUM IN UHERSKÉ HRADIŠTĚ • Presentation of lead partner: • contributory organization under the Authority of the Zlín Region • founded in 1914 • functions in the entire ethnographic region of Moravian Slovakia • science fields represented – ethnology, archaeology, art and general history • administrator of branch offices within the Zlín Region – the Moravian Slovak Museum, the Gallery of the Moravian Slovak Museum, the Great Moravia Memorial in StaréMěsto, the Kunovice Aviation Museum, the Topolná Open-Air Museum, the Museum of Folk Distilleries in Vlčnov, national cultural monuments – archaeological localities in UherskéHradiště, StaréMěsto and Modrá • experience in regional, national and international projects

AREA 2: ENHANCEMENT OF THE MEMORY, HISTORY AND EUROPEAN HERITAGE ACTIVITIES Description: 2013 (short-term) preparation and implementation of the exhibit Veligrad – from princely tombs preparation and implementation of the ceremonial combined evening with multimedia presentation to celebrate the 1,150th anniversary of the arrival of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Moravia preparation and implementation of the three-part non-fiction publication on Cyril and Methodius with multimedia elements preparation and implementation of a public pilgrimage along important Moravian archaeological localities entitled In the Footsteps of Cyril and Methodius preparation and implementation of a training and educational programme entitled the Cyril and Methodius Academy 2013

AREA 2: ENHANCEMENT OF THE MEMORY, HISTORY AND EUROPEAN HERITAGE • 2013 - 2016 (medium and long-term) • preparation, construction, staffing and operation of the Center for the European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius within the Great Moravia Memorial • preparation of the international cultural route In the Footsteps of Saints Cyril and Methodius, and its implementation including information systems within Moravia • preparation and implementation of an international Web presentation of the European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius, with participation of all partner countries • preparation and implementation of a printed non-fiction guide to the European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the language mutations of partner countries • preparation and implementation of international workshops of institutions from partner countries • initiating international cultural dialogue with exchange of experiences and findings in the form of study visits and participation in technical research • preparation and implementation of a unique international pilgrimage exhibit Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Beginnings of Christianity in Europe with participation of partner countries
