How does a hero represent his/her time period and geographical area • Michael showed that he is a symbol of the 90’s and he is a celebrity and a hero to the people of that time period due to his basketball skills
How do various cultures reward or recognize their heroes • Michael has been rewarded by dedicated fans and loyal teammates and championships. He has also been rewarded by society with espy awards and MVP awards and several all-star appearances
where and how did Michael grow up • Michael was born in Brooklyn new York but his parents made the decision to move to Wilmington, North Carolina because of the increasing crime rate in new York. He had four brothers and sisters and was not poor or wealthy he was a part of a middle class family
what types of adversity did he face in his life • Michael was cut off the boys varsity basketball team when he was in 10th grade • Michael was upset but he said he understood the decision to cut him because he wasn’t a mature enough player or large enough he was only 5”4” in his sophomore year but the man could dunk
More types of adversity for an older Michael • Michael and his loving wife and mother of his two children divorced after 17 years of marriage • Michael has also had to face diversity with his mainly failure of a basketball team in the charlotte bobcats
what challenges as a player did he face • As a player in the NBA Michael faced many problems such as loosing teammates and any games due to him missing game ending shots • Even though those things happened Michael remained strong and a positive influence on many people.

what drove him to become such a great player • Michael was driven by several things he says being cut and told he wasn’t as good as everyone says he is was the main reason • He also says that have short term goals that reflect off one another were and still are a huge part of all of his success
what types of charities does the hero run and how many • Michael runs charity golf tournaments every few months but he runs a huge 3 day tournament once a year invite only • He also makes major contribution to the boys and girls clubs of America
