Tutoring • After school tutoring • Monday through Thursday 3:45-4:40 • Activity Bus at 4:45 • Starting soon • Lunch tutoring programs for those in danger of failing required courses • Last year mandatory tutoring was set up after quarter grades. Transcript Requests • PARCHMENT • All requests will be electronic. • Go to www.parchment.com to create an account. • Select Guilford High School (Rockford, IL) as your school. • All requests to IL schools are free, and many others are as well. Some may have $2 fee.

College Application Process • Most applications are online • Watch application deadlines (priority deadlines) • All applications should be submitted by December 1st • Variety of options…include safety schools, financial safety schools • Apply to anywhere from three to six schools • Make your final decision by May 1st

College Application Month-October • College Admissions Essay Workshop on October 9th • College Representatives coming to Guilford • Listen to announcements and sign up in counseling office at least 24 hours in advance • Limit to 3 visits per semester or with counselor approval • Rock Valley College presenting in classrooms to complete Enrollment Forms/Applications • RVC Field Trips October 31st and November 7th
Scholarships and Financial Aid • Merit-Based Scholarships • Scholarship Listings created by counseling office every month. Emailed to seniors and parents. • Be sure to complete Google Doc to be included. • Research scholarship opportunities from the colleges you want to attend. • Athletic Scholarships • Division I and Division II athletics
Scholarships and Financial Aid • Need-based Financial Aid • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) • Loans, grants and work-study from state and federal government • Apply after January 1st of senior year • Considers family income, family size and many other factors • Determines your estimated family contribution (EFC) • www.fafsa.ed.gov
NCAA—College Athletics • Division I and Division II offer athletic scholarships • Check with counselor to make sure proper course sequences to meet requirements • Register online at www.eligibilitycenter.org • Send official transcript and ACT scores • $75 registration fee • Official visits with college coaches can begin after registration is complete
Graduation • May 28, 2014 at 10:00am at the BMO Harris Bank Center • Cap and Gown required to participate
Cap and Gown Orders • October 7th during 2nd hour (9:25-10:15)—Senior Assembly • Orders Taken on Tuesday, October 15th and Wednesday, October 16th during lunch periods • Orders Taken during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 15th
