Housing choice • 500 people homeless during last 1-night count, illustrating problems in both access to housing and housing affordability. • Growing populations of non-white residents and single-parent families, but they’re more likely to experience poverty and less likely to become homeowners. Growth, 2010-2015 • Modest expected pop. growth and rental demand will likely require stepping up rental housing production. • Will need roughly 200 more rental homes per year to meet demand—about 40-50 more than created in prior years. • Enough owned homes already in planning.
