What Is SCPEP? • A district and community partnership that studies district issues and identifies priorities for the district. • The process creates a set of priorities that proactively moves toward a “preferred future” rather than waiting until problems arise. • The district and community partnership acts as an advisory group to the Board of Education. What is the Purpose? • To inform district stakeholders of current programs, successes, and issues in the district. • To determine priority course and program offerings and identify necessary resources. • To identify educational and facility needs. • To identify current and additional resources and revenues. • To identify priorities to guide Board decisions for responding to future challenges. Board Expectations • To involve our community and keep them informed in the school system at all levels. • To inform the community of the current program/course offerings at all levels. • To inform the community about school demographics, facilities & finances. • To have the community identify program/course priorities. • Board develops Strategic Plan with short/medium/long term priorities/outcomes. Details of the Process? • 30-40 participants, invited by Board to represent demographics of District • Five sessions, scheduled from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm • Planning Process supported by NE Council of School Administrators and NE Association of School Boards • The planning sessions will be facilitated by Don Fritz, planning consultant with The FGR Group. D-T Public Schools Profile Doniphan-Trumbull Public School is a rural district serving the communities of Doniphan and Trumbull in central Nebraska. Both towns are located approximately 12 miles apart and within 15 miles from the cities of Hastings and Grand Island. Many of the students come from neighboring farms, but a significant number have parents working in either of the neighboring cities. Approximately 85% of the students graduating go on to higher education. AdvancED School Improvement Goals- From Teaching & Assessing for Learning Standard- Improvement Priority #1 will be: Develop a formalized curriculum which includes common grade-level, formative, and benchmark assessments in grades k-12 as well as a formalized process of review. Improvement Priority #2 will be: Develop and implement a system-wide process that ensures all professional and instructional support staff are trained in the evaluation, interpretation and use of data.
