Damage: Larva • start by chewing holes in the leaves (best time to control) • Then go into stem or stalk (drill hole) (difficult to control) • Leaf with holes(outside), cut nutrient flow (once inside), stem weakening, collapse, the corn bud undevelop • Control: • 1) Intercropping: (sweet potatoe & legumes) • 2) Light trap, catch adults • 3) crop rotation • 4) plant flowering plant: attract parasitoid wasps: Trichogramma spp. (parasitize eggs) • 5) insecticide: dibrom and gusathion
