1. At a maul with Reds moving forward, a Blue player is on the ground and Red 6 does not attempt to step over him but repeatedly moves his foot up and down the Blue player’s head. What should the referee do now? • 2. A maul becomes static and there are players from both sides on the ground. A late arriving Blue player uses his toe end on a Red player's body without any real force but in an attempt to move the Red player. What should the referee do now?

A maul is in progress and the ball is in the control of the Blue side as Red 4 attempts to pull the maul down and ends up on the wrong side. The ball is still playable and Red 4 did not succeed in pulling the maul down. Blue 2 and 5 attempt to move Red 4 by scraping their studs down the thigh of Red 4 but not in a vigorous way. What should the referee do now?
5. Red 6 tackles Blue 13 who was moving forward. Blue forwards approach at pace and step over the 2 players on the ground. From the kick-off a talkative scrum half develops a running commentary. As his opponent puts the ball in to the scrum, he gasps and stares at the referee in mock disbelief, as if to say: "You're not going to let him get away with that, are you?" What should the referee do now?
9. A captain, a pack leader or other player is heard using obscene language to encourage his own team or to castigate their mistakes. The language is clearly audible to opponents and spectators. He approaches Red 15, dummies to the right wing and 5m from the Red goal line attempts to step inside with no covering tacklers approaching. As he steps inside Red 15 is initially sent the wrong way by the dummy and then lunges out with is trailing leg to bring Blue 15 down to the ground. What should the referee do now?

Without attempting to grasp the ball carrier, the full- back sticks out an arm which strikes the ball carrier on the throat, knocking him breathless to the ground. What should the referee do now? • 12. Red fly half kicks into in-goal from 15 metres out. The Red and Blue wingers both chase the ball shoulder to shoulder. 13. Reds are in possession in a maul and are making good ground, driving in one continuous movement. Suddenly, the far touch judge flags for foul play. The referee having blown the whistle because the maul goes static, the touch judge, when consulted, tells the referee that the defending Blue 7 flanker positioned on the blind side was punching the Red 3 who was trapped in a defenceless position. What should the referee do now? • 14. In open play Blue 11 is held with the ball by his opposite winger.
