  1. Presentation Skills

  2. Prep • Select an Appropriate Outfit. • Prepare a positive appearance - Clean hair, face, & hands. Be well-rested. • Practice Good Posture. • Have a visual(s) for your audience to look at. • Have note cards or power point cards. • Practice out loud at least 100 times.

  3. While Presenting • Introduce yourself and your topic. • Stand with Good Posture • Don’t touch your face or fool with your hair • Make regular eye contact with your audience • Use ‘open’ body language

  4. While Presenting • If you have to refer to your cards, look down, and then look up to your audience. • Talk to the ears …don’t turn away from the audience while you are speaking • Speak loudly, clearly, and enunciate your works. Don’t shout. • Breath….don’t rush. • Finish with a conclusion statement to let your audience know that you are done.

  5. Audience Skills • Face the presenter • Listen quietly • Hold any questions to the end, do not interrupt • Use positive ‘open’ body language, show that you are interested and supportive. Your behavior affects the presenter’s performance. • Do not ask to be excused during a presentation. • If there is time for questions, ask meaningful questions that relate to the topic.

  6. Engage Your Audience You can engage your audience by asking questions. Often a question is asked to make the audience think of a time…or relate to and topic on a personal level. This type of question is not meant to be answered by the presenter. Other times the speaker can engage the audience with a thumb or similar response.
