L’arc De Triomphe • L’arc de Triomphe is very well known all over the world. It resides on the famous street Champs-Élysée. L’arc de Triomphe was built in 1806 dedicated to the glory of Napoléon I and his rule over France. It’s so big that it took two years just to build the foundation! The arch is 49m high, 45m wide, and 22m deep. Napoléon included the names of 128 battles fought by the French Republic and himself. They are written on the walls under the vault along with the generals who fought them. NEXT

Le Centre Pompidou • Le Centre Pompidou is Europe’s largest museum of modern art and hosts over six million visitors a year. It opened in 1977 and has become one of Paris’ top attractions and cost almost one billion francs to build! La Tour Eiffel • The Eiffel Tower is now considered the symbol of Paris, France. It was built in 1889 for the World’s Fair by AlexandreGustave Eiffel. Le Louvre • Le Louvre is probably the most visited museum in the world. Each day over 12,000 visit the museum so in a single year over 3,600,000 people visit Le Louvre. The most famous painting it’s known for is the Mona Lisa, or La Jaconde. It was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci and has actually been stolen in 1901 and recovered in 1903. Notre Dame • Notre Dame is a cathedral on Île de la Cite in Paris. Its construction began in 1163 and lasted until 1345 and Bishop Maurice de Sully started it all. This monument has a gothic architecture style to it which consists of slender vertical piers and pointed arches. Notre Dame translates into Our Lady. NEXT
