Why a Dutch fungicide group? • Discussions with the representatives of the agro-chemical industry concerning the resistance management strategies • The FRAG-NL could work/act as a referee • Exchange of information between: • Research (fundamental & practical) • Fungicide evaluators (and DNA) • Research of the industry • Good experiences with an herbicide resistance group (NL/BE)
Why a Dutch fungicide group? • Start of the founding discussions, beginning 2004 • During a potato late blight meeting in Jersey • During the Rheinhardsbrunn Symposium • Start meeting in authumn 2004 • Discussions : • Goal? • FRAC-member? • Who should be invited?
Who is member of the FRAG-NL? • Researchers from: • Fundamental research • Applied research • Plant Protection Service (as Evaluator) • Representatives from the industry: BayerCropscience BASF Syngenta Certis Makhtesim Agan Asepta Scotts Du Pont Belchim Dow Crompton Cerexagri
Who is member of the FRAG-NL? • So there are no members of : • the Dutch DNA • Extension service
Who is member of the FRAG-NL? • Chairman : Huub Schepers (researcher of PPO) • Secretary : Erno Bouma (PPS)
Objectives of FRAG-NL: • To gather and interpret information on fungicide resistance and its management and arrive at a Dutch consensus view. • To promote practical guidance on the status and management of fungicide resistance in the Netherlands. • To indicate areas where Research and Development are required. • To provide an interface between (industry's) Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC) official bodies and independent research organisations. • To produce, publish and promote educational material that will assist in the understanding of and reduce the incidence of resistance in plant pathogens
Objectives of FRAG-NL: Educational material : • A guideline for preventing and managing of resistance for the control of cereal diseases • A guideline for resistance management for the control of potato early and late blight • Under construction are guidelines for: • Fungicide resistance management for the control of apple & pear scab • Fungicide resistance management for the control of fire blight in bulbflowers • Fungicide resistance management for the control of indoor production of vegetables
Future developments: • Founding of an Insecticide Resistance Action Group in 2007 • Production of more information material for the end-users • Due to the comparative assessments of the new • EU-regulation, the resistance management strategies • are of increasing importancy • We hope on a strong collaboration between the different country • RAG’s
