Product Use in Sensitive Areas • All products must be approved for use in the plant • MSDS approval required by 027 Environmental Health & Safety • Avoid opportunity for generation of mixed waste • Review with your coordinator before using products
Access to Life Saving Station • During construction, be aware of locations of the life saving stations on water front areas • Maintain clear access to the life saving stations
Crane Path REMINDER • Do not park vehicles in crane path • Do not obstruct crane path with material
Unplanned Event – B4636 River Water Pump House Leak • October 16, 2012 - B4636 river water pump house • River water system was being modified • System was pressurized • Hydrostatic testing failed • Test was not conducted in accordance with Chapter 8 of H&S Manual
Scheduling of shutdown work • On, or before December 17, provide information to your coordinator if you are planning to work between December 21 and January 2. Need location and point of contact. • If any work requires technical support for LOTO or 3rd rail tagging from O43, PLAN AHEAD. We have a lot of work that will occur during shutdown. We do not want to slow 043 work by emergent LOTO issues.
FMED’s • FMED - Foreign Material Exclusion Device • Use from the start of the project • Maintain cleanliness of pipe systems • Tape, cuttings, and dirt were found in our pipe systems • Foreign material in process gas piping is dangerous to the user
O27 - Safety • Cutting/sawing/core drilling into concrete decks • Contractors are not using their LOTO tags with NNS tags. Second leading finding in monthly audits
O27 - Safety 2012 H&S Audit Findings • 20% of hot work operations requiring fire watches did not have fire watches on duty • 47% of fire watch trained employees were not able to identify the different classes of fire, extinguishing agents, the stages of fires and methods for extinguishing fires • 53% of employees failed to recognize that CO2 can displace oxygen in a confined space • 20% of hot workers observed did not have the required 8-inch boots or spats
