  3. receptor effector Pi GDP β • Effector: • Opens/closes ion channel • Activates an enzyme α GTP GDP γ G-Linked Proteins: general scheme of how g-proteins are activated. Note in some cases the alpha subunit stays stationary and the beta-gamma unit moves the the effector.
