Stellar Pulsation, Challenges for Theory and Observation, May 31 – June 5, 2009, Santa Fe, New Mexico Variability morphologies in the color-magnitudediagram Searching for secularvariability Maxime Spano(1), NamiMowlavi, Laurent Eyer, Gilbert Burki Geneva observatory, Geneva university, 51 Chemin des Maillettes, 1290 Sauverny, Switzerland This workis part of an effort to detectsecular variable objects in large scalesurveys by analysingtheirpath in color‐magnitudediagrams. To thisaim, we first present the variability morphologies in the V/V‐I diagram of several types of variable stars. Theycomprise bothperiodic and non periodic variable stars from the Large Magellanic Cloud, such as classicalCepheids, long period variables or Be and R CoronaeBorealis stars, as well as two of the detectedsecular variable stars in the Galaxy, FG Sge and V 4334 Sgr. This allows to identify the regions in the color-magnitudediagramwherethosesecular variable stars couldbedetected. (1): Maxime.Spano@unige.ch
