Our objectives - Strengthen joint research and teaching initiatives, maximise mobility and facilitate graduate employability- Bring the young European research universities perspective to the EU debate- Increasing our commitment to Open Science
Each strategic action is pursued through a working group Involving 6-8 universities
EU policy YERUN will contribute to shaping EU education, research and innovation policies in key areas as EU funding programme for Research and Innovation, Open Science and the modernisation of higher education. YERUN Position Paper on FP9 Presented at the European Parliament on 7 November 2017 1. Sustainable funding to match Europe’s ambition in research and innovation 2. Engage society in the creation of knowledge and innovation 3. Promote and reward a full implementation of Open Science 4. Recognise a more comprehensive definition of impact 5. Enhance support for early career researchers 6. Revise submission and evaluation processes
European Research Area YERUN supports collaboration in research as it creates critical mass where large scale investment is needed, encourages the cross-fertilisation of ideas and promotes the wider dissemination, use and impact of our research. YERUN Research Workshops Exchange research ideas and gain a better understanding of complementary expertise in the following research priorities identified within the network: Health and Ageing, Big Data, Digital Humanities, Migration, and Sustainable Technologies with the goal to develop research collaborations and EU funded projects YERUN Researcher Mobility Award Mobility and cooperation at the researchers’ level.
European Education area YERUN believes in the collaboration in education across universities as it encourages the cross-fertilisation of ideas and promotes enhancement and innovation of a research-led education to the benefit of our students. Graduate employability YERUN promotes graduate employability and business engagement, and advocates delivering high-quality, high-value learning, within the wider setting of Europe’s cultural, social and economic needs. YERUN initiatives as to graduate employability can be seen as the output of research & education innovation Champion the value of research-led education Seek ways for students to benefit from a broader and more diverse educational experience, improving levels of competencies and skills Encourage student enterprise programmes and internships Advocate the value of business engagement
Open Science YERUN facilitates information exchange about Open Science policies and practices among YERUN members with the objective of benchmarking and exploring the possibility of addressing joint initiatives and best practices. Open Science Policy Platform YERUN is represented in the Open Science Policy Platform advising Commissioner for R&I 1- Rewards and incentives 2- Open education and skills 3- Next Generation Metrics 4- European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) 5- Changing business models for scientific publications 6- Citizens science 7- FAIR (open) data 8- Research integrity
