Linked to Implementation of Intermediate Level Education (ILE) in FY05
May shift from summer (Jun-Sep) to winter (Jan-April)
ILE Core Course + BSAP = MEL 4/ FA59 Qualification
4. One Course per Fiscal Year
Seminar Format: up to 15 officers
14 week total immersion – TDY status
Sequential instruction – build foundation of theory, history, doctrine, “systems”, staff rides / visits and planning exercises.
Resident and Guest lecturers / SMEs
Refine communication skills
Tailored instruction where appropriate
Graduate Level / Adult Learning Model

7. Summary BSAP provides:
The foundation for Army strategists
Rounds out the officer’s ILE/MEL-4 education
Provides the officer with the ability to be immediately effective to gaining / current organization

9. The active force currently has a shortfall of 59’s to fill designated billets---total population is about 185 officers

15 officers of these 185 are JSO/3L----8 are COLs and 7 are LTCs.
They are serving at all levels of Army and Joint commands---the lowest level we place 59s is at the Corps level (1 per corps)—the remainder are at Numbered Army staffs and aboveThe active force currently has a shortfall of 59’s to fill designated billets---total population is about 185 officers
