  4. Definition of Air Pollution • Air pollution is the presence of any chemical, physical (e.g. particulate matter), or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.

  5. Types of Air Pollution • Local street-level pollution Air pollution in streets. • Regional smog problem Smog problem in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta

  10. Methods of solving air pollution • Use public transports instead of private vehicles • Set laws to restrict the amount of exhaust fumes from the vehicles A public transport-bus • These can reduce the exhaust gas • produced by the vehicles,thus less • pollutants will be formed.

To reduce the number of waste incineration since this produces lots of pollutants • To avoid the burning of fossil fuels as they contain a lot of polluting gases • Avoid smoking in the public area in order to reduce the amount of toxic gases. Smoking produces lots of harmful gases. • Set laws to control the amount of exhaust fumes produced by power stations and factories

  12. Suggestions to the HKSAR • Provide financial support to car owners for car maintenance regularly. • Plant more trees along the road side.
